The Mission Committee met in late January to plan activities for 2008. In March, we will ask St. Andrews to begin preparing health kits for UMCOR [United Methodist Committee on Relief] and local needs. The committee is planning a potluck for a Saturday evening in May to celebrate the mission work of our congregation. During the summer we will consider the work of Heifer Project International [HPI], culminating with a celebration of gifts for Heifer on Sunday, August 31. Soon after, walkers will start accepting pledges for CROP Walk to be held in mid-October. We will continue telling about mission work of the United Methodist Church with a brief video presentation during worship on the 2nd Sunday each month.

Please remember to bring canned goods and other non-perishable food items to help meet hunger needs in our community—a can a week is all we ask. Also, remember to bring new and used candles to provide light and heat for the homeless. You can also help prepare or serve a meal at Loaves and Fishes every 4th Saturday morning. We remember Jesus’ statement: when you did it for the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you did it for me.

In God’s love,

Carol Edwards
